We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Editor to lead our editorial team and uphold our tradition of journalistic excellence.
Position Overview:
The Executive Editor will be responsible for overseeing the editorial operations of our publications, ensuring the delivery of high-quality content that resonates with our diverse readership. This leadership role demands a visionary approach to community journalism, strong editorial judgment, and the ability to inspire and manage a team of talented writers and editors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Editorial Leadership: Provide strategic direction for the content and tone of all publications, aligning with the company’s mission and audience expectations.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of editors, reporters, and contributors to ensure productivity, professional growth, and adherence to deadlines.
- Content Oversight: Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and quality of all published content, maintaining high journalistic standards.
- Publication Management: Oversee the production schedules of six free weekly newspapers, one monthly newspaper, and one paid daily newspaper, our magazines and special sections, ensuring timely delivery to readers.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, ensuring that the publications remain responsive to community needs and interests.
- Innovation: Identify opportunities to enhance digital and print offerings, integrating multimedia and leveraging new platforms to reach broader audiences.
- Budget Oversight: Manage editorial budgets, including staffing, resources, and expenses, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in editorial leadership, preferably within community or regional journalism.
- Proven ability to manage multiple publications and meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of digital media trends and the evolving journalism landscape.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
